Q. Do you have a waiting list for Puppies?
A. No, deposits may not be made before the litter arrives. After Puppies are born a deposit may be placed to hold the one chosen until they are old enough for placement, first come first served. Deposits are always voluntary. “The Contenders” Boxer Puppies will have at least 19 AKC_® Champions in their Bloodlines. Minimum deposit is $200 and is fully refundable. Q. How much is the deposit for Puppies? Refundable?
A. $200^†. Yes, it is fully refundable.
Q. How much are your Puppy Prices?

A. The price for a puppy depends on Appearance, Conformation, Quality and Purpose. The regular price is $800-$1000^ΩΩ for a puppy with full AKC_®Registration and they may be used for Showing or Breeding. Save $200^Ω if it is for a family pet that will receive AKC_® Registration that limits breeding or showing. There is no guarantee expressed or implied as to the ability to show or breed a puppy. Prices are set after a puppy is born and will be displayed with it's picture in the Puppy Pics Gallery. There is no difference in the price of a male or female Puppy. Sales restricted to Domestic USA sales only in the lower 48 Continental States.

Q. How many Litters per year do "The Contenders" have?
A. Currently up to three litters per year.

Health Statement and Vaccination records provided. Brucilosis test, Health check, and Vaccination Records for the Dam are required before mating. Progesterone tests for the Dam to determine peak time of Ovulation are highly recommended if shipping her to be bred to ensure a positive result. Consult your Veterinarian for recommendations.

Q. Do you offer any Guarantees? Satisfaction? Health? Stud Service?
A. Yes. Satisfaction: 90 day Full Refund^†† return Healthy Puppy. Health: Heart, Hips & Thyroid . First Year Full Refund^†† Stud Service: May repeat breeding once if unsuccessful. If your Dam is unsuccessfully bred by my Stud, and is successfully bred by another you will receive a full refund (DNA Parentage Certification required). Progesterone test, Health, Vaccination screening should be completed before mating.
Q. Do you offer Shipping? Who Pays? Domestic/International?

A. Yes, the buyer pays, Domestic USA sales only in the lower 48 Continental States. Because we care and for the health and safety of the Puppies "The Contenders Boxers & Boarding Kennels" has selected Continental Airlines Cargo as our pet shipper. USDA Licensed carriers. Current air cargo rate for live animals plus delivery expense to the closest air cargo terminal and the cost of the shipping crate. Continental's Animal Care program is so good that they do not have the hot or cold weather restrictions that limit the other carriers.

Q. If I am not ready to receive my puppy when they are ready for placement can you hang on to him/her for me for a while?

A. Yes. Puppies that need to be held longer than one week past the age of 8 weeks can be held longer at the discounted boarding rate of $10/day beginning at 8 weeks of age. In all cases the balance of the cost of the puppy is due by 8 weeks of age or your deposit will be refunded and the puppy will again be listed for sale. Any boarding fees are due when the puppy is picked up or shipped. The new owner is responsible for any Medical/Health costs past 8 weeks of age.

Q. What do I receive with my new Puppy?

A. Before Placement Puppies will have Tail Cropped, Dew Claws removed, First Shots, Worming, Final Check-Up, AVID® MicroChip I.D. Implant ^††† and health certificate if shipped, per USDA requirements.

Q. Can I get a Puppy without it's Tail Cropped?
A. No. Tails are cropped when the Puppy is less than a week old because it does not require Anesthetic then, so they are cropped before they are offered for sale.
Q. Why are Dew Claws removed?
A. This procedure is done as a health and safety precaution. Yours, your family's and your new pet's. Dew Claws can cause cuts and scratches when they play, or if they hop up on someone or get in a fight. They also may be ripped off causing a painful injury to your pet. In the wild Dew Claws are used to help grab and hold prey when they eat, not unlike the way a human thumb is used.
Q. Will my new Puppy have his Ears Cropped? Do you provide Spaying or Neutering if desired?
A. No, Ear cropping is not provided for several reasons. First, they must be a few months older for the Anesthesia required for the procedure. Second, as a matter of Personal Choice many new Boxer Puppy owners do not prefer having their Puppy's Ears Cropped. Third, Taping and Training a Boxer's ears to stand erect after Cropping is a very time and care intensive procedure with no guarantee of good results. No, Spaying or Neutering also requires the Puppy to be old enough for anesthesia and all of the Puppies leave here before they are old enough for this procedure. Consult your Veterinarian for his or her recommendations regarding these procedures.
Q What should I feed my puppy?
A. There is much debate on the best brand of food for your puppy. They should be fed a high protein puppy food of good quality for the first full year. Consult your Veterinarian for their recommendations for feeding at each stage of their life.
Q. How long until my new Puppy's ready to come home?
A. If you are picking him up, he's ready at 8 weeks old. If you are having him shipped he leaves at 8 weeks plus shipping time.
Comments: AKC_® Pedigreed & AKC_® DNA Certified Sire and Dam. Your Puppy's Pedigree is ordered when you send in the AKC_® Registration to have him registered in your name by checking the Pedigree Box on the Application Form with your payment. AKC_® DNA Parentage Certificate also available for Puppies through the
American Kennel Club_®.
^ΩPuppies sold as pets at the lower price range will receive Limited AKC_® registration applications, meaning they can't compete in AKC_® shows or competition and their offspring are not eligible to be registered with AKC_®_. Limited Registration can't be upgraded at a later date so you must be sure of your choice. If you choose Limited, it is recommended that your pet be spayed or neutered to avoid unwanted mating. Consult with your Veterinarian for details.
^ΩΩPuppies sold for breeding or show competition at the higher price range receive full AKC_® Registration applications.

^††Before a refund is given the puppy must be returned to this Kennel. In all cases if a dog or puppy obtained from this kennel cannot be cared for properly they MUST be returned to "The Contenders" Boxers & Boarding Kennels. Abandonment or dumping a dog is never acceptable!!
